A year where triathlon plans were cancelled and put into perspective by Covid-19, replaced by staying at home, forgetting how to swim and hoping to remain healthy.

Whilst I tried to continue training, I was hampered by a number of injuries – both from accidents and seemingly random breakdowns. Instead of racing PBs, I set records for the number of trips to different physios/specialists and for time spent on rehab exercises…

I started the year with sky high motivation, my biggest winter of training and my best ever form across all three disciplines. I ended it with cautious optimism that races would go ahead in 2021 and that I’d be able to take part, whilst feeling vulnerable and somewhat nervous of my body’s ability to prepare for them.

My one sporting highlight was a week of cycling in the Alps, during a brief period where Covid cases had almost disappeared. I may have spent the whole week riding on my own as I was too slow to keep up with my friends, but it was still a great experience and I hope I can go back again (and in better condition)
